Regardless of the type of plant, it's all about growing. The same methods perfected in the high tech water culture of hydroponics are easily transferable for growing all variations of plants.

Of course, hydroponics is not the only system available. The use of a hydroponics system for cultivating other forms of plants is certainly viable however; there are many different systems of hydroponics, just as there are many different growing mediums such as sand, gravel or other inert materials.

For beginning gardeners, gardening with hydroponics or other such systems, is a low maintenance, efficient and relatively easy way to cultivate.

The art and science of hydroponics or similar systems for cultivating plants without soil involves:

  • Doing routine checks on pH levels
  • Topping up water levels
  • Changing nutrients every 7 to 12 days
  • And preferably using a timer to automatically turn garden lights on and off
